Robert Waters elementary school in Union City is closed this week because a pupil has swine flu, according to state and district officials.
The boy is hospitalized but should be fine, Union City School Superintendent Stanley Sanger said today. The district is awaiting test results on several other students, he said.
The pre-K-to-8th-grade school has 1,300 pupils.
New Jersey at this point has 15 confirmed cases of swine flu among 5,123 reported nationwide by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Six people have died and more than 200 have been treated at hospitals.
Records show most of those affected are from 5 to 24 years old.
